Before there was Pinterest and blogs, if you wanted to see more images of beautiful homes beyond just the snapshots in magazines than you would turn to coffee table books. Recently on Instagram I shared how I had heard about a follower who would gift herself a new coffee table book every year for her birthday and I loved the idea so much I decided to adopt it for myself. I think the hardest part is choosing just one, but that is also the fun part of looking forward to what book to choose for the following year. I glean so much inspiration from coffee table books, that I wanted to share my favorite coffee table books with you as well!
August | Embracing Transition
I recently heard that August is the transition month between summers sweet ending and falls new beginning. I think whether you have kids in the house who are getting ready to transition back to school, or not, you can’t deny there is a shift in the air as we are on the brink of transition. I still find myself asking the questions “how are we in August already”? Yet here we are, with the kids going back to school in less than two weeks. I’ve been learning to embrace a few things as the seasons shift, and become more aware of transition and the effects it has on me, and I wanted to share a few thoughts on those with you! So as I savor the last bit of slower mornings and warmer days, I’m sharing a bit of life updates as we make our way through August, and begin to transition into fall.
Welcome March | the In-Between Season
We have made it halfway through March! For us New Englanders, we like to refer to March as the final month of winter. However, I know that for some of you, you are already enjoying bits of spring. We’ve had our two biggest snow storms over the past two weeks, and I kept repeating to myself “In like a lion, out like a lamb” as I watch giant snow flakes fall outside my window. A popular childrens book I was read in grade school about spring. While we wait for spring to officially arrive, it got me thinking how March can very much feel like a season of “in-between”. Do I still need my winter coat and beanie? Or will a light spring jacket do? And how this can also be true in life as well as we shift through different seasons. So whether you are currently navigating a season of “in-between” in life, or like me just waiting for spring to arrive with warmer weather, today I want to offer a little bit of encouragement while we patiently wait together.
Primary Bathroom Design Plan and Mood Board
Last week I decided to start tackling another room in our house. This time our primary bathroom. While we might not be tackling everything on my to-do list, I am ready to make some simple updates in our primary bathroom. So today I’m sharing some of my design plans, along with my thought process on how I decide on what to tackle first. Even if you don’t have a primary bathroom remodel in the near future I hope some of these ideas will give you fresh inspiration for your home as well.
Embracing Winter
For years, I always felt like the winter season should be summed up to just the month of December, where the holidays are the main focus, and then I would rush off to “wishing” away the next 3 months in hopes of an early spring. But I found that in doing so, I was robbing myself of the gift that the winter season can be. Yes I realize I just said that the winter season can be a gift, and before you think I’m crazy allow me to explain. Winter isn’t just meant to be summed up as the time when Christmas comes, and then we hurry off to the next season. There are tiny gifts tucked away in what can seem like an endless cold and dark season. Ones that I’ve begun to unpack for myself. So today, I’m sharing my thoughts on this underrated season, and how we can Embrace Winter together.
Progress | Embracing Where We Are
Hi friends. Today we are celebrating Progress! And by celebrating I mean, embracing where we are at, right now in this very moment. I’m sure we are all on our journey with something. Am I right?! Maybe we are working towards a new goal, a new number on the scale, or getting back into routine. Or maybe you are working on some home projects just like I am right now? One thing I feel like doesn’t get mentioned or celebrated enough is progress. It’s so easy to get swept up in the before and after. I mean who doesn’t love a good before and after picture? I sure do! Whether it’s of an insane home makeover, or even a weight loss journey, the before and after leaves me in awe every time. But something I’ve been thinking about a lot lately is it’s during the progress that the real work happens. Let me tell you what I mean ~
Currently Loving | vol. 5
Hello Friends! inspiration, a paint color, a fashion trend, a new gadget, a book, or even song that I can’t stop singing. There’s no particular rhyme or reason, or order in which I share them, just a compilation of all the things that have caught my eye as of lately. Here We Go!
Coffee Chat | vol. 1
Hello Friends!!! I know things have been a little quiet over here on the blog for the last few months, and before I jump back in to regularly sharing on here, I wanted to share a “catch – up” post if you will. Picture it as I’m personally inviting you over for a cup of coffee, only virtually. You know the kind of catch up you do with a friend when you haven’t seen each other in a long time, and a coffee chat is long over due. Well today, you and I are going to have a sort of coffee chat – only it will be online, although I so wish you could be sitting in my living room with me, curled up on our white slip covered couch, with a giant cup of coffee. Or tea, or hot cocoa, or whatever you choose to sip on while we dive deep into conversation. I thought it would be fun to share some photos I’ve snapped around our house over the last month or so while we “chat”.
Planting Seeds of Hope
I did something this week, that I’ve never done before. Now I realize to my young 36 year old self that isn’t highly unlikely, but you see I’m a creature of habit. A risk taker I am not. I like to stay inside my perfectly drawn lines I’ve made for my life, and I stick to them. My days are routine, for the most part. I know what I expect. Sure I may get adventurous every now and then, but if I’m really being honest with myself, I can’t remember the last time I did something last minute or spontaneous. No I like consistency. I like to know what to expect and plan for what’s coming. All good qualities I assure you, but my friends quickly find out, I’m not the person to call for a last minute invite.
