Back Deck Renovation Progress

We have been steadily working on our back deck renovation over this past summer. I shared our plans with you HERE, and our back deck appearance has changed quite a bit since then. If you’ve been following along in my stories on Instagram, then you have gotten to see a lot of the changes firsthand. But I thought it might be nice to share more of the photo progression here, especially for those who haven’t had a chance to see the progress yet. We aren’t finished with the back deck yet, but the progress is certainly noticeable.

It’s a great space full of potential, one that I wasn’t sure if we were going to be tackling this year, but we are getting ready to get this project in full swing, and I wanted to share the design plan and all the before photos with you first!

Fall is in the air, and boy do I have a fun little makeover to show you! A few weeks back I was browsing through FB Marketplace looking for antique foldable chairs, and stumbled across the cutest little bistro table set! Well, it wasn’t cute at first, but I knew this set had plenty of potential. With a good scrubbing, and some spray paint this bistro set got a completely new look, and it fits perfectly in an empty corner we have on our back porch. Come and see ~

I can’t believe that summer is here, and there is nothing I love more than to spend as much time as possible outdoors. Whether it’s sitting on our porch, or entertaining friends and family, we love spending our summer months outdoors. After having what seemed like the most mild fall in history, our temps here in New England are telling us winter is on it’s way! In fact we’ve already had some snow fall, but with temps in the 70’s a few days later, it melted pretty quickly. With porch sitting weather no longer in season, I start to get our outdoor spaces prepped and ready for winter. Patio furniture gets put away, and any remaining signs of fall – i.e. our pumpkins, get fed to the chickens. Since we do get some snow on our farmers porch in the winter, I like to keep the furniture on it minimal. Making it easy to clear and walk on for shelter from the winter elements. I cleared off our porch the other day to start the process of outdoor prep, and created this sweet little Christmas Tree Farm vignette, perfect for the upcoming holidays, but something that can last all winter long.

Hello Friends! If you are a familiar face around here, then you know it’s no secret that I love gatherings! I love creating tablescapes to celebrate life’s many special moments. I even wrote a book about HERE. I’m so excited because today I get to share another beautiful book my friend Courtney, from French Country Cottage, wrote called Inspired Gatherings. Courtney has definitely inspired me from the early days of blogging, by encouraging me to pursue my photography and my creative gifts, and I love that we share this common thread of a love for gatherings. I’m thrilled to share her new book with you, and as a way to celebrate I put together a backyard gathering, because right now it’s all about gathering at home.

We did it friends!! I’m so excited to share this project with you today. I get so many questions on how we installed the gravel patio around our fire pit area, that I wanted to share how we installed our new gravel patio area next to the house.
