I love the “weathered wood” look, but sometimes that can get pricey. So I focused my attention on finding on unfinished side table that I could stain myself. I’ve mixed stains before, layered stains, tried the “diy” stain, the only problem I have with those methods is consistency. It’s never guaranteed that your finished look will be like the one you did before. Especially understanding that different types of wood soak in stain differently, and even though you are using the same exact method you get a completely different outcome.
Holiday DIY Tablescapes
It’s no secret around here that I love creating tablescapes! You’ve heard me say it before, and I will probably say it again. Which is why I am so excited to share a NEW mini-course created just for Holiday DIY Tablescapes, and just in time with the holidays right around the corner. This instantly available course was created by Jen Wagner, and is available through Jeanne Oliver. You may remember a course I taught with Jeanne and other friends all about the Art of Home. One thing I know for sure, is that the course Jeanne provides on her website are from the most thoughtful, creative and genuine women, who truly want to inspire and help others create! It’s a beautiful network of artists, and this course happens to be particularly close to home. There is nothing I love doing more than creating tablescapes, but trust me, I know for some the thought of it is daunting, or perhaps even un-inspiring. The good news is it doesn’t have to be that way! Whether you’ve dabbled in it before, are completely new to the concept, or love creating inviting tables for your guests to come and sit at, I think you will love this course.
How to Install Wallpaper on your Ceiling
I have been wanting to add bead board to the ceiling in our kitchen since, OH about FOREVER! There are plenty of options out there for installing bead board, and for the most part non are super pricey. They more differ in difficulty and the tools needed to install. I’ve always loved the look, and even though the hubby was on board, his plate has been so full I couldn’t see him having time any time in the near future to tackle this project. One of the options I always kept in min was using bead board wallpaper, and so that was exactly the route I decided to go. The ceiling in our kitchen was smooth, so using wallpaper was a perfect solution.
DIY Antique Headboard Bench
I still remember that “AH-HA” moment I had when I finally came up what I was going to do with this antique headboard. It sat in our barn over the winter, and pretty much every time my husband went in the barn he asked what I was going to do with it. I think he wanted it out of his way, but there was no way I was going to let him get rid of it. I knew it would be used for something fabulous, I just didn’t know how I wanted to use it yet. And then, the “AH-HA” moment
Updated Kitchen Island
I finally decided to take the plunge and update our kitchen island, by painting it a bold color, and it was so easy. So one night around dinner time, because that’s when projects seem to strike, I grabbed my paintbrush, and my favorite chalk paint color and got to work. Or so I thought….
Vintage little Girls Room Reveal
I am so excited to share our little girls room with all of you today!! I find when I decorate my kids rooms, like any spaces in our house, it’s a pieced together look, and sometimes those take time to put together. There is waiting involved as you gather those pieces and inspiration. That was certainly the case for this room. Come and see how I created cozy nooks, with a vintage feel and a one-of-a-kind look!
Bathroom Mini-Makeover
I pushed it off for months and months, but I finally came to the conclusion that giving our bathroom a mini makeover by painting our stripes a new color was mandatory. And I am so glad that I did. Every time I paint with gray I fall in love with the color all over again. Come see which gray I used this time!
Bathroom Design Plan
I shared with you last week some goals I have for our home in 2016. If you missed it, you can catch that post HERE. Today I thought I would share with you some of the design ideas I have in mind for our downstairs bathroom. I have wanted to tackle this bathroom since the day we moved in, and fill it to the brim with character. Sometimes the smallest rooms are the easiest to decorate, because a little goes a long way, and sometimes …
DIY Abstract Art
I mentioned in my Living Room Refresh post that part of simplifying our space, also meant simplifying our wall space too. I think I love gallery walls just as much as the next person. They are such a fun, unique way for me to artistically express my creativeness. My form of art, if you will. However, when the walls start to feel like they are closing in, and things start to feel cluttered, sometimes it can be too much. So I made a pair of DIY abstract art …..
