As I was preparing for this years Thanksgiving Tablescape, I had an image pop up in my memories of the very first thanksgiving tablescape I created over 7 years ago! It was crazy to look back and see how this love of creating a warm gathering place has always been apart of me. The desire to see family and close friends gathered around the table sharing a meal and building memories. I know that this year Thanksgiving might look a little different than it has in years past, but I hope that at the heart of your table this year you are able to soak in the moments with those gathered around it. Today I have some special friends joining me, as we share our Thanksgiving tables for 2020.
Planting Seeds of Hope
I did something this week, that I’ve never done before. Now I realize to my young 36 year old self that isn’t highly unlikely, but you see I’m a creature of habit. A risk taker I am not. I like to stay inside my perfectly drawn lines I’ve made for my life, and I stick to them. My days are routine, for the most part. I know what I expect. Sure I may get adventurous every now and then, but if I’m really being honest with myself, I can’t remember the last time I did something last minute or spontaneous. No I like consistency. I like to know what to expect and plan for what’s coming. All good qualities I assure you, but my friends quickly find out, I’m not the person to call for a last minute invite.
Trader Joe’s Fall Floral Arrangement
Hello Friends!! Today’s post was just the kind of DIY I needed to get into the fall spirit! Creating this fall flower arrangement reminded me of just how much I love to play with flowers. Like a painter with a paint brush, creating flower arrangements feeds my creative soul, and this time it’s all about fall. I team up with 20 other bloggers, who are also all sharing their fall floral arrangements, and I’m extra excited, because I got all of my flowers from Trader Joe’s! That’s right, you read that correctly – Trader Joe’s.
Fall Porch | 2020
Hello Friends, and Happy Fall!! The weather has been amazing here in New England, and the color on the leaves this year is truly breath taking. I’m so excited to be teaming up with some blogging friends today as we share our fall porch, hosted by my lovely friend Rachel from Shade of Blue Interiors. If you’ve been following along with me on Instagram, then you saw how I started gathering things for our porch this year, but I’m excited for you to come and take a look!
How to Create a Backyard Gathering
Hello Friends! If you are a familiar face around here, then you know it’s no secret that I love gatherings! I love creating tablescapes to celebrate life’s many special moments. I even wrote a book about HERE. I’m so excited because today I get to share another beautiful book my friend Courtney, from French Country Cottage, wrote called Inspired Gatherings. Courtney has definitely inspired me from the early days of blogging, by encouraging me to pursue my photography and my creative gifts, and I love that we share this common thread of a love for gatherings. I’m thrilled to share her new book with you, and as a way to celebrate I put together a backyard gathering, because right now it’s all about gathering at home.
What I did on the First day of School
Friends, it’s official – our kids are finally back at school and have had their first day. There were a lot of emotions leading up to this day, the uncertainties of how the classroom environment will be. All the “what-ifs” – will they like going back? Will it be weird? How is it going to be wearing a mask? And will they be able to keep up with all the new protocols or should they just stay home? So many emotions, and so my questions I have been in deep thought and spending time in prayer over these past few months leading up to their first day of school. I shared before that we live in a small, rural town, and our kids public school is open to in person teaching – which I know is not the case for many. While I did have my list of concerns and mixed feelings about the whole decision of whether to send them back or not, ultimately I have peace that we made the right decision for our family, and that is key. You should never base your decisions off of what you see everyone else doing for your family, and always spend time praying about it together as a family. With all that being said, their first day back was a success! A great success in fact, and so today I’m just sharing what I did, while my kids where having their first day back to school.
Blue + Red Fall Soiree Tablescape | 2020
Hello Friends! It feels so good to be sharing a post about fall! I have to admit, it feels like fall sort of snuck up on us this year, and I find myself reminded of the quote by Oscar Wilde “And all at once summer collapsed into fall”. I find myself ready, and longing for not only the structure that fall tends to bring with it, but all the warm nostalgias that make fall great. Apple picking, pumpkin spice lattes, leaves changing colors, and that crisp fall air that has us grabbing for cozy blankets and warmer sweaters. The pumpkins are on the farm stands here in New England, and if you look close enough you can even see the leaves are already beginning to turn. I find the familiarities to be comforting and hopeful that not all is lost or forgotten, and my love for gathering in the fall seems greater this year too!
Summer Dining Room | 2020
Hello Friends! I realize it has been a hot minute since I have posted on here. I know this year in general has looked very different for most of us, and I found myself needing to take some time over the course of the summer to really step back and navigate through everything that has been going on. If you caught my last post, I shared this mama’s heart and my thoughts on our kids going back to school. And while today might be September 1st, I realized I never got around to sharing the photos I took of our dining room earlier this summer, because well – life happens, and this past summer I really wanted to unplug with my kids. So before I start sharing all sorts of fall inspiration for this year, I wanted to share how are dining room has looked over theses past couple of months. I hope you enjoy seeing our dining room decorated for summer.
Thoughts on Back to School – and this Mamas Heart
Friends, my heart is heavy as we make our way towards a new school year starting and so many uncertainties still left up in the air. We have twenty-nine days left until the first day of school here in New England, and I know there are other parts of the country who have already begun or will begin in the next couple of weeks. With so much still to decide on it seems that the only thing as of lately that brings me solitude is spending time in our yard with my hands in the dirt, which is exactly what I was doing before I came in to write this down to share with you. I know I don’t always talk about mom stuff or family life, but right now this is what is weighing heavy on my heart, so today I’m sharing some of my thoughts with you as we navigate through these uncharted territories, putting words to feelings I’ve been mulling over, because maybe you too have similar feelings. I know for myself, the moment I am able to put words to exactly what it is that I’m wrestling with, I can think clearer and find peace. So if you are a momma who has been worrying about what this upcoming school year holds, todays post is for you!
