Recently I was chatting with a friend about her home, and she was sharing with me how she had all sorts of ideas on things she wanted to do in her new home, but that she was afraid of making the wrong choice. Sound familiar? I think we all experience decorating paralysis at one time or another. In some areas we can be so sure of our design choices, but in other areas we can get so stuck second guessing ourselves that we feel paralyzed to the point where we can’t even make a decision out of fear we will make the wrong one. Have you been there? I know I have, even with our new house. But I’ve also learned the gift of making a mistake when it comes to decorating my home, so today I’m sharing about making mistakes with our home decor, and the gift that comes from taking chances.
3 Spring Centerpiece Ideas
It finally feels like spring is on it’s way here in New England, and I couldn’t be more excited! While we are still waiting to see spring bulbs pop up from the ground, our grocery stores have been filled with a variety potted spring bulbs. I think it’s no secret around here that I love setting a beautiful table, so with all the spring inspiration around me, I wanted to share 3 different spring centerpiece ideas with you to celebrate the arrival of Spring. Each centerpiece is completely different, but I think you will find all 3 ideas have one thing in common – spring bulbs! I’d love to know which one is your favorite? So come and table a look, and be sure to let me know in the comments at the end of the post.
My Go-To Painting Tools
I don’t think it’s much of a surprise around here for you to know how much I love to paint. Not only is it my favorite most inexpensive way to transform a room, I also thoroughly enjoy it. Like really enjoy painting, lol. For me it’s therapeutic. I love to grab my paint brush, put on a good audio book or podcast, and getting lost with my thoughts. However, I know painting isn’t for everyone, but I also know that having the right kind of tools can help make the job go a whole lot smoother. So today I’m sharing with you my go-to painting tools. These are my tried and true first picks. The tools I reach for every time I go to paint, and I’ve rounded them all up in todays post.
Currently Loving | vol. 8
It’s time for another installment of Currently Loving. Every once and awhile I like to share these “catch-up” posts, where if you and I were to meet over coffee, I would share all the things I’m loving lately! While there really is no rhyme or reason to what I choose, it’s just a random mash-up of the things that have either caught my eye, or I can’t get enough of. With the seasonal change right upon us, it felt fitting to share some of things I’m loving right now as we enter into spring!
Welcome March | the In-Between Season
We have made it halfway through March! For us New Englanders, we like to refer to March as the final month of winter. However, I know that for some of you, you are already enjoying bits of spring. We’ve had our two biggest snow storms over the past two weeks, and I kept repeating to myself “In like a lion, out like a lamb” as I watch giant snow flakes fall outside my window. A popular childrens book I was read in grade school about spring. While we wait for spring to officially arrive, it got me thinking how March can very much feel like a season of “in-between”. Do I still need my winter coat and beanie? Or will a light spring jacket do? And how this can also be true in life as well as we shift through different seasons. So whether you are currently navigating a season of “in-between” in life, or like me just waiting for spring to arrive with warmer weather, today I want to offer a little bit of encouragement while we patiently wait together.
Guest Bathroom Refresh Reveal
Today I’m sharing how I refreshed our guest bathroom. The plan was to give our guest bathroom some cosmetic updates to help refresh the space, and tone down the red tile. Knowing that eventually we plan to give this bathroom a complete makeover, I didn’t want to spend a lot of money on this refresh. Our main goal was to update this guest bathroom, all with budget friendly ways, to help get us by until we can give it the makeover it deserves.
Favorite Frames & Artwork
I think sometimes deciding on what to hang on our walls can be the hardest part. I often get asked where I buy my frames, or find my artwork, so today I’m sharing my favorite frames & artwork with you! What we choose to hang on our walls can say a lot about our personal style, and the artwork we pick is a great way to reflect our own unique style. So if you’ve felt stuck on what to hang or where to look for new pieces to refresh those walls in your home, I hope you find this post helpful!
Gallery Wall Tutorial + Sources
One of my favorite ways to decorate that reflects our personal style is with a gallery wall. Whether you use artwork, or family photos, what we choose to hang on our walls can say a lot about who we are, and reflect what we love. If you have a lot of wall space in your home, hanging a collection of smaller frames in a grouping to create a gallery is an easy way to fill a space, and can often times be more affordable than a large piece of artwork. I recently tweaked the frames I have hanging over our console table in our living room to create a larger grouping of frames, so today I’m sharing how I created this gallery wall and sources for the frames and artwork I used.
