I know that sometimes creating resolutions for the new year can become a bit daunting or overwhelming, maybe even a tad discouraging. Wondering if there’s even a point to creating these goals, because let’s face it, sometimes we don’t even get to the second goal on our list. If those thoughts come knocking at my door, I like to take a moment and look back at the things I have accomplished. So today I’m joining my friends from the Farmhouse Decorating Series, as we share our favorite projects from 2016, and our top goal for 2017!
The Mom Cave
I am so excited to share how we transformed this space into a cozy retreat! Ever since I was a little girl I have loved being in my bedroom. It was my space to think, and play, create, and dream big. I always felt refreshed after having some alone time in my room when I was a kid, and still feel that way! In our master we have a tiny room attached ….
New Thoughts for the New Year
I have spent the last week purging and cleaning. Going through areas in our house that have collected piles over the past year, who am I kidding the past few years. Some areas get re-visited more than others, and some areas stay neglected for a little while. I feel like I’ve been pretty productive though, going through clothes I haven’t worn in the past year. Do you know I got rid of about 20 belts?!
My favorite thing to buy for the new year!
As 2016 winds down, I thought I would share with you my favorite thing to buy as we get ready to start another new year! We all go through New Years resolutions, I assure you, this has nothing to do with that! But… my favorite thing to buy for the new year is a new …
Christmas Lights Night Tour
I had never really taken photos of our home at night before, so I really wasn’t sure what to expect, but I love how cozy everything feels with the warm glow of the candles and white lights.
Watercolor Advent Calendar {2016}
I shared awhile back on Instagram that I was going to do something completely different for my Advent calendar this year. Not because I didn’t love our wood plank advent calendar from years past, but because I was ready for something a little different. So I took a leap of faith and tried something new, something I had never done before, and created a new watercolor advent calendar.
Christmas Gift Wrap Station
I always like to look for gift wrap that feels one-of-a-kind, and sweet embellishments that make my gifts that much more exciting to open! Who doesn’t?! When I create my tablescapes I always aim for each place setting to feel inviting and special to welcome each guest. I take the same philosophy when it comes to wrapping gifts.
Christmas Entryway with Balsam Hill
I never used to care that much about our entryway before. I will admit, in our early days of decorating our home, I would only focus on the main area we would spend our time in, the living room. And while that’s totally fine for us who spend everyday in our home, I realized I left my guests feeling a bit uninvited until they finally made it into our living room. Our very first apartment was a typical new englander, and we had the second floor, however to enter our house you would come in on the main floor into an entryway, and then climb a giant flight of stairs to a tiny hallway and then enter into our living room. That gave our guests about 25 steps of cold, undecorated, not-cared-about space as my first impression. Yikes! Well thankfully I’ve learned …..
Woodland Winter Tablescape
If you saw in our Christmas tour I incorporated some blue to this years decor. One of my main staples were these amazing blue goblets I found at HomeGoods in clearance! They paired perfectly with the glasses I already had from my china set, and added just the touch of blue the table needed.
