So I've caught a bug. Not a stomach bug or any type of sick bug, so don't worry. It's funny how refreshing one space can be contagious, and now I have caught the bug of freshening up more of our spaces. Today I'm sharing some house goals I have for 2016. We have a running joke around here, between my husband and I, that I always have a project! He may be right, but just as we approach our 5 year mark of being in this home, I was starting to think there really wasn't anymore left to do, or was there. I did a re-cap last year when we hit the 4 year mark and it's full of all sorts of fun before and after photos like these: ... Read More about 2016 House Goals
Easter Inspiration
I always feel a huge sigh of relief when the word Easter starts making it's way into conversation. It's like that light at the end of the tunnel of a long dark winter. Thankfully this winter hasn't been anything close to what it normally is, but once Easter arrives I can usually stop holding my breath that a possible snow storm could happen. Yes we may get a flurry or two, I've had lovely wet snow fall on my birthday which is the first week of May, but nothing to worry about it's usually back in the 60's in the following couple of days. So with Easter, comes my sigh of relief that we made it through another winter. ... Read More about Easter Inspiration
How to Beat the Winter Blues
We are almost in the last days of winter. I will say this winter hasn't been anything close to what our normal winters are like, or last years 1 foot of snow twice a week winter! With that being it can still tend to feel like spring is never going come! So today, just for fun, I'm sharing with you some of the things I like to do to beat the winter blues, when it feels like winter is just never going to leave! It's one thing to take a tropical vacation, but if that isn't in the budget for you, sometimes even looking at warmer places online, can start to feed into the feeling of complacency, and that is the last thing you want to feel when you are trying to overcome the winter blues. ... Today I have a fun home tour to share with you! I have had the pleasure of getting to know the girl behind this blog, most recently in the new year, and she is one of the sweetest people I just had to share her with all of you! Not to mention I love her modern farmhouse style, and her beautiful photos. ... Read More about Home Tour : A Burst of Beautiful
Simplifying our Built-Ins
One of the contributing factors to the clutter in our living room was our built-ins. Those gorgeous half walls in between our living room and dining room. They are so nice to have, until you have to decorate them! It takes time to find just the right pieces, or the right sized knick knacks, but before you know it they can start to feel cluttered, and more of a distraction, than a pretty architectural element in the space. If you are new here, or visiting for the first time, I started the process of Simplifying our Living Room in the beginning of the year. I had shared how lots of elements in the space just started to make it feel like the walls were closing in, and I was craving a simpler ... Read More about Simplifying our Built-Ins
DIY Abstract Art
I mentioned in my Living Room Refresh post that part of simplifying our space, also meant simplifying our wall space too. I think I love gallery walls just as much as the next person. They are such a fun, unique way for me to artistically express my creativeness. My form of art, if you will. However, when the walls start to feel like they are closing in, and things start to feel cluttered, sometimes it can be too much. ... Read More about DIY Abstract Art
Living Room Refresh
It feels so good to refresh a space. I'm so glad I let our living room have some breathing room. I was craving a little change, which I talked about HERE, so when I simplified our living room, it allowed me to bring back only what I absolutely wanted in the space. Of course finding the right shade of bright white paint helped me not rush the process of refreshing our living room, and really added some impact to the refresh. Even though our walls were light before, a fresh coat of paint makes it feel so crisp and bright. I can't wait to see how it will feel in the summer. ... Read More about Living Room Refresh
How to Pick White Paint
After reading all of your feedback from my "white paint fail", it was so nice to know I wasn't the only one who had a hard time finding the perfect shade of white paint. So I thought it would be a great idea to combine all of your great advice, along with the things I learned, to help people pick out the right white paint for them. You see, after reading all of your feedback, I have definitely concluded that not only does the amount of sunlight you have in your room affect your wall color, but your region does too! ... Embracing the Process
Why is it that trying to finish the decor in a space can be so frustrating?! You have an idea, a plan, a vision, but sometimes seeing the completed vision of that space come to fruition takes a while. I know I've shared before about taking risks, and being ok with making mistakes when decorating your spaces before, and it's all apart of this thing called "process". We don't talk a lot about the process, or always show what that process looks like. Who doesn't love a good Before & After, but it's rare we see how we got from the Before to the After. And what happens if you get stuck in the middle? I think the same can be said about life sometimes. We start out with a plan or a dream, and ... Read More about Embracing the Process

Adding a Focal Point
One of the main pieces that can ground a room, and make it feel complete, can also be the most over looked - Adding a Focal Point. When we don't add a focal point in our design, we miss out on a big chance to share our uniqueness with everyone who comes into that space. Think of it as a free pass to share your creative style with those around you. Not only is adding a focal point a great way to share your style with everyone, it's also a great way to complete a space. I remember when I was in the process of re-vamping our living room the first time, and as I looked around our space I thought a lot about what kind of accessories I wanted to bring into the space that would truly reflect me, ... How to Style a Coffee Table
It's no secret around here that I love to create tablescapes. I create a new one for each season, and sometimes multiple ones in between. I even hosted a thanksgiving tablescape tour this past fall, and had a bunch of my friends join in with me on the fun and share their tablescapes. While creating tablescapes are fun, and truly a way I express my creative art, styling a coffee table is much different. When I create a tablescape, I'm envisioning a space that is inviting and interesting for my guests. A place that is elegant and beautiful for all to sit and enjoy. However, most of the time when creating a tablescape they are temporary. So their design can be a bit more elaborate because it ... Read More about How to Style a Coffee Table
