Sometimes it can be a bit confusing to figure out what to put on your dining room table that will last all through fall. While faux florals are always a great option, it’s nice to have an alternative. I love decorating with pumpkins because they last a long time. I usually stack a few on my dining room table mid-September, and they last all the way up to Thanksgiving. I love it because unlike real flowers, these don’t die. I can kind of set it and forget it! Which in my opinion is the best kind of decor. Today I’m sharing a simple fall centerpiece that anyone can create and enjoy. [Read more…]
YEP! I know some of you are probably going “Whaaaaat?!” right about now. Friends we sold our dining room table, and bench I might add! If your asking yourself why in the world would I do such a thing like that, allow me to recap while I share some of my very favorite photos of our dining room table with you. Sort of like a good bye tribute, because lets face it, I loved our farmhouse table, that we built, but it’s time to move on. [Read more…]
Hello Friends!! As I’ve been slowly making the switch over in our home decor for fall, there have been some items that have caught my eye lately. It’s been awhile since I’ve shared some Home Decor finds I’m loving right now, so I put together a little round up of some fall home decor I’m loving right now. Some of it is specific to fall, and some of it could be used all year round. However that is my favorite type of decor. A mix of season specific things, and things I just simply love! In case you missed it I shared some seasonal tips on how to style your coffee table, HERE, and you can also see this years fall home tour HERE. Since I’ve bee decorating for fall, and doing my own fair share of fall nesting I wanted to share with you some fall decor I’m loving right now. [Read more…]
I have some exciting news to share with you today! I am so excited to be apart Balsam Hill’s Splendor of Autumn tour. Each day this week, one blogger will be sharing how they welcome autumn with some beautiful pieces from Balsam Hill.
I teamed up with Balsam Hill last Christmas, and was so impressed by the quality of their pieces. I always say that if you are going to go with faux florals, make sure they are good quality and the most realistic. Balsam Hill has a beautiful collection this fall, and I’m so excited because at the end of this post there is a GIVEAWAY to win some beautiful fall decor for your own home! Be sure to stay tuned and I’ll share how you can enter at the end of this post.
The morning were crisp, the days were cool, with the softest breeze flowing through our windows. I really thought fall was here to stay, and then BAM! We are hit with 90 degree days. Our leaves are turning into the most beautiful display autumn has to offer, and these hot and humid days have me closing our windows and turning the AC back on, ugh! Thankfully cooler temps are supposed to be back by the end of this week. So to help them along, I’m sharing my outdoor patio space decorated for fall along with 14 other bloggers and our friends at Joss & Main, part of their #designtheoutdoorsevent. [Read more…]
I’m so excited to be sharing with you some more of our home decorated for fall! Their truly is a sense of “fall nesting” that takes over as cooler weather approaches. The need for wanting to create warm, cozy spaces to embrace you during the colder months ahead, is something I love to do for my family. Since we start to turn our focus on spending time indoors together, I love making sure our spaces are ready to accommodate all of our families needs. This means making sure cozy throw blankets are fully stocked and that there is one for everybody. I’m joining my friends from the bHome app in the final day of our Fall Home Tour Series. [Read more…]
I’ve slowly been adding bits of fall around our house. As I shared last week in my coffee table styling post, I like making subtle seasonal changes throughout my rooms to celebrate the upcoming season. I’ve been adding in some richer colored throw pillows, and cozy knits, not to mention a pumpkin here and there. Today I’m teaming up with my friends for another round of the Seasons of Home series as we all share our fall living rooms. [Read more…]
A few weeks ago I shared how I change up the decor on our entryway bench seasonally. It’s subtle, and quite simple, and a great way to make a change in my decor to mark a new season. I always say that I decorate more seasonally vs. for specific holidays. This allows my decor to stay up for months at a time, yes even after Christmas, instead of only a few days or a week. Even though we still have another week or so to go before it’s officially declared fall, I’ve begun sprinkling little bits of fall throughout our home. Yesterday I shared my fall tablescape with nontraditional colors celebrating the beginning of the turn of our leaves outside. And as I get ready to start subtly swapping things over in our living room, I thought I would share with you how I make that change on our coffee table each season. So today I’m sharing with you how I decorate seasonally on our coffee table. [Read more…]
I am so excited to be sharing with you today the reveal of our sons room makeover!! This has been such a fun project to work on, and the transformation is night and day! We did a complete overhaul in our sons room, and transformed it into a space we all want to spend time in. I think my daughter is trying to convince him to do a room swap with her now, lol, but I have some things up my sleeve to freshen up her space next. [Read more…]
We are winding things down in our last 2 weeks of summer. Fall soccer for my son has already begun, and you can smell autumn in the air as it approaches. I was window shopping online the other day, actually looking for some fall decor inspiration, and during my searching I stumbled upon a beautiful wooden trunk and it reminded me of the wooden trunk we have in our living room as a coffee table. And I thought to myself if I didn’t have my current trunk, I would get this one. I know many of you have asked where ours is from, and I hate not having a valid source. So today I’m sharing a variety of farmhouse style wooden trunk coffee table ideas. [Read more…]
If you have been a reader of my blog for a while than you’ve probably heard me say once or twice before that when I decorate our home I change my decor up more seasonally so I get the most use out of it. Unless the mood strikes to refresh a space, I simply stick to the same key pieces, and make subtle changes as the seasons change. Today I’m going to show you how I do this in our entryway. It’s a simple area, with not much too it, but even so, changing things up seasonally makes a big impact.
I get a lot of questions about where items are from in our home. I’m in the process of updating my sources, and creating a page to help navigate through different rooms in our house, to make things easier to find. Until then I wanted to share some updated sources for pieces you’ve seen in our living room this year. My staples have stayed the same, but there have been subtle changes along the way, and I wanted to make everything easy to find in one post. [Read more…]
First of all, I just have to say how amazing you guys are! Your comments on my last post, I have a Dream, have warmed my heart in ways you will never know! I feel like I sat down and had the best coffee visit with my closest friends. You know the kind where you leave feeling refreshed and full from having good conversation. The best conversations, that affirm, and encourage one another! I’m so honored to have you hear with me, and I cannot even begin to express the gratitude I have in my hearts for you! So today I’m finally getting around to sharing the other half of the room our washer and dryer are in. I’ll be honest when we first looked at this house, this room perplexed me. It’s a small room to being with, and has an angled wall that used to drive me bonkers when we first moved in. It’s funny how something things start to fade away and blend in with the rest of the space. This room has functioned as a few things since we lived here. A playroom, a bedroom, a throw all room, a pop-up guest room, and now my office. I’ll admit it’s been my office for just about 2 years, but it’s hardly ever clean. When you are creating things, it’s so hard to keep things clean, but that’s why I love this room. It’s a space for any of the projects I’m working on to go, and I can just shut the door. However now, it’s turned into quite the creative retreat, so I may be keeping that door open a bit more! With some help from my friends at Minted, I was able to turn this home office space into a place I where I love to create. It inspires me, and I think that’s what helps the creative juices flow the most, and I can’t wait to share it with you! [Read more…]
It’s funny, looking back, how clearly I can remember always wanting to be a mom. I can remember being asked as a young girl, and early teenager what I wanted to do when I grew up, and my answer was simple, “be a mom”. It wasn’t until I was in high school that that answer was no longer the only answer people would accept. I would get responses like “yes you can be a mom, but what else do you want to do?” or “Of course you will be a mom, but what do you want to do for a career”. Even though their question changed, my answer still stayed the same. To the point that when it came time to start thinking about college, I boldly told my parents I didn’t need to go to college because I was going to get married and be a mom. This was without a potential husband on the scene as well. I was confident in it. I was drawn to it, and something inside me felt peace about it, contentment, almost like it settled me. Yes I had always secretly wanted to become an interior designer, but at the time going to school for that was out of reach, and I doubted myself very much. Especially seeing how I didn’t have my own home or money to decorate with. [Read more…]
Hi friends! I hope you have been enjoying summer. It feels like such a fleeting season for us here in New England, so I wanted to share a flew glimpse’s of our living room with you, as a way to soak up this last month of summer that we have, before fall comes and the kids head back to school! First though, thank you SO much for all your kind words regarding our Farmhouse Laundry Room Makeover. Like most of you, our laundry room isn’t really a room, but more a wall, lol. This little transformation has made this area in our home much more productive, and I think we can all agree, when it comes to doing chores, when they are more enjoying to do, they get done! In case you missed it, you can see the entire makeover HERE. I still have more to share about the rest of this room, but we have been soaking up summer with trips to the beach, time spent with friends, and just being there for my kids. As much as I love to share things here on the blog, I also recognize that time spent with my kids during these summer days won’t always be there. So this mama is soaking it in while she can 🙂 Now for a look into our summer living room. [Read more…]
