Hi Friends!
I have missed you!! I unintentionally took the month of January off from blogging, as I have been busy working behind the scenes on a new project! I hope your new year has been off to a great start. Whether you are fully submerged in chasing after those goals that you set at the beginning of the new year, or find yourself slowly trying to establish new habits, I hope that you able to savor some of the stillness that comes with the fresh start of a new year. Before I share my Goals post for this year, and what I’ve been working on, I wanted to share a little recap on 2023 and some encouragement for you!
Here we Go ~
In the beginning of 2023 I shared my Goals post for the year. You can find it HERE, and I’m happy to say that we accomplished just about everything on that list (plus a few more), with the exception of starting the kids hallway makeover right after the holidays. I still have a few finishing touches to do before I share the reveal, but it feels so good to look back over the goals I had made and see how many we really did accomplish.
Without a doubt our biggest project we tackled in 2023 was our Fireplace Makeover.
You can see the entire Reveal HERE.
Remember the Before?! ~
I tackled painting Our Primary Bedroom (reveal to come soon!) and hung curtains.
I shared the design plan HERE, but here is a reminder of where we started.
Phase 1 of our Garden Beds was started.
I shared all about our raised blueberry bush garden bed HERE.
This was the before ~
We planted eight more limelight hydrangeas along the front of our yard.
You can read more about that HERE.
I finished our Cottage Inspired Guest Room
See the entire transformation HERE.
And I started the year off completely a budget friendly cosmetic bathroom makeover off of our 1st floor guest room.
You can read more about it HERE.
If you have never written out goals for the year, I would highly recommend doing so. You might be surprised at just how much you complete in a year. And if you are feeling a little stuck as to what you want to work towards this year, take some time to reflect and look back over the past year.
I’ve shared before how I like to start off every New Year – from giving our house a clean slate, to personally reestablishing routines that I have, as well as creating a Goals list that includes all the house projects I hope to tackle for that year. If you have never written out goals for the year, I would highly recommend doing so. Sometimes I find myself feeling stuck when it comes to setting goals for the new year. I find that this most often happens when I don’t take the time to reflect on all that was accomplished in the prior year. It’s easy to feel discouraged when we don’t feel like we aren’t seeing any progress. This can be true in life with our own personal goals, and in our homes. Some days it feels like everyone else is making strides, while we are moving at a snails pace. When those feelings start to creep in I realize I need to take my attention off of what everyone else is doing, and do a little reflection.
If you are feeling a little stuck as to what you want to work towards this year, take some time to reflect and look back over the past year. When I look back and see all the progress or growth that has been made, it is all the encouragement I need to look ahead.

My husband gifted me your 2022 “The Gift of Home” which I have thoroughly enjoyed and happy to learn we have already implemented many of your suggestions. I loved your comment about God placing passion in our hearts and creativity is one of the ways we can offer that gift back to him.
I look forward to being inspired by more of your decorating ideas!

Hi Sandra!! I am so happy to hear that you have been enjoying my book!! This brings the biggest smile to my face, especially hearing how much you loved my comment on the passions and creativity God places in our hearts! It is my true hope to encourage all women in this – personally and in their homes as well, and I am so glad it found a way into your heart as well!! Thanks so much for telling me!!
