I've never really shared the story of the china set I inherited. The one that I have used in quite a few of my tablescapes, including my very first one. The one that gets pulled out every year during the holidays, and honestly the china set that I believe is what started my love for tablescapes in the first place! You've seen it so many times here on the blog in different tablescapes throughout the years, and I may have mentioned it being inherited, or a hand-me-down, but I've never quite shared just how it came to be in my possession. So today I'm sharing the story of how I inherited my china set. ... Read More about My Inherited China Set

10 Floor Plans Under 2,000 sq ft
Hello Friends!! So many of you have loved the farmhouse floor plans I have shared in the past, and while they all varied in size they had one thing in common - a farmhouse style! I shared in my first ever floor plans post just how much I LOVE looking at floor plans, and envisioning how I would decorate those spaces. Picture your 14 year old self doodling on her school notebook how her name will look with a different last name of the boy you like, and day dreaming about signing your signature in your new last name. Yeah, that's kinda how I day-dream about floor plans. My mind bursts with ideas with the opportunities for decorating that each new floor plan offers, and I kinda get lost in the ... Spring Home Tour {Sources}
Hello Friends!! Thank you so much for all of your comments on my spring home tour last week! It means so much to me, especially when it's more of the subtle changes in decor I crave from season to season. Sometimes, I only need one thing that "speaks" spring to me, as long as it does so loud enough. We are watching the snow banks get smaller and smaller around here, and anxiously awaiting to see some buds pop up, but I wanted to share a more detailed source list for the items I decorated with for spring! So here are some sources from my spring home tour this year. ... Read More about Spring Home Tour {Sources}
When Dreams Collide
I wrote this post a couple years ago, but wanted to re-share it, because so many of you wrote me about how my recent "Mom Failure" post resonated with you. I know I love to share about decor and pretty spaces, but I think when it comes to creating a meaningful home, it helps to know where that stems from in a person, and we can get to know people a little more. So today I'm sharing more on my dreams of becoming a mom and decorating homes, and how the two collide. ... Read More about When Dreams Collide
I felt like a bad Mom
I remember feeling like a bad mom. Not like I made a mistake and feeling remorse, but I remember feeling like I was completely failing as a mom, and that made me a terrible mother. 7 years ago I was in the throws of toddler hood with an 18 - month old and a 3 year old. I stayed at home full time with my babies (still do - only now they are in school), which had always been a dream of mine, ever since I was a little girl. ... Read More about I felt like a bad Mom
Spring Home Tour | 2019
Ohh Spring, that magical time of the year, when the birds start chirping again, and you can feel the warm sunshine on your face, and everywhere you look, you can't help but smile seeing all the beautiful flower buds covering the trees, and popping up from the ground. It's such a refreshing sight after a long winter, and even though we might not quite be there here in New England, I love adding touches of Spring around our home, because it builds up anticipation for what's about to happen outside. ... Easter Tablescape | 2019
Hello Friends! I'm teaming up with some friends today to share some Easter inspiration, and when I looked back through my blog, the last time I shared something for Easter was in 2016! Now, I know I don't typically share decor for every holiday, but I decided that 2016 was far too long. So today I'm sharing a sweet spring tablescape that could be just the inspiration you need for hosting this Easter. ... Read More about Easter Tablescape | 2019
How I came up with Naming my blog “Rooms For Rent”
You might be surprised by this, but I get asked quite a bit on how I came up with the name "Rooms For Rent" for my blog. And yes, every once in awhile I will get inquiries if I have "rooms for rent", lol. Yes, at one point we did rent out a room, more than once actually, to help out a local friend, but to clarify - no we don't have rooms for rent. But I wanted to share with you the story behind how I came up with this name for my blog, and what it means to me - and hopefully now you too! ... DIY | Lime Wash Lamps
If you caught my spring mantle yesterday, than you may have noticed the addition of a new table lamp on my buffet in the dining room. I mentioned that the white lamp we used to have in the dining room, is now in the kitchen on the antique dresser. I used that lamp in our dining room on our buffet quite frequently, so I needed to replace it with something quick. I decided to give some older lamps a little makeover, so today I'm sharing just how I did that. ... Read More about DIY | Lime Wash Lamps
