Christmas is almost here! I love to decorate our home for the holidays, and one of my favorite sites is the soft glow of white lights from our Christmas tree. When we moved into our home a few years ago, I had been searching and searching for a realistic faux Christmas tree that felt nice and full, since our new living room has a bit more floor space then our previous living room had. This will be our third year with this faux Christmas tree in our living room, and it’s still just as beautiful as the day we got it. So today I’m sharing all the details.
Asymmetrical Christmas Garland
I am so excited to share this years Christmas Mantel with you, because this is the first year I get to decorate our newly renovated fireplace for the holidays. If you are new here, earlier this year we gave our brick fireplace a makeover. It was quite the extensive process, and we thought through every aspect of what this makeover would look like. You can read all about it HERE, but today is the day I have been waiting for ever since we finished our fireplace makeover. I brought my favorite garland out of storage, and I couldn’t wait to hang it back up.
Fall Mantel | 2023
Today I’m sharing how I decorated our fireplace mantel for fall! Truth be told, from the moment we finished our fireplace makeover, I have been dying to pull out my garlands from their storage bins, and decorate it for Christmas. But I’m practicing some self control, and am embracing the fall season by choosing to decorate my mantel for fall and not skip straight ahead to Christmas. I took a note from the colors I used in my Thanksgiving table this year to create this natural look using foraged branches with berries, a few faux stems, and of course mini white pumpkins! I love how this look came together, and am so glad I decided not to skip over decorating our mantel for fall this year.
Primary Bedroom Before + Design Plan
Today I am sharing the official “before” of our primary bedroom. Even though you have seen glimpse’s of our primary bedroom on the blog before, I’m designating an entire blog post to show you the before, and share a bit of the design plan that I have for this space. I’ve been slowly working in our primary bedroom over this past year (eh’em I said sloooooowly right), as it was one of that spaces I wanted to tackle when I shared my Goals post back in the beginning of the year. It’s so exciting to see some progress, which also means we are finally getting some curtains hung! Can you believe it, after 2 1/2 years we are finally going to hang curtains in our bedroom!
Fall Home Tour | 2023
Fall is in the air friend, and with that I begin to turn my focus from being outside in the garden to back in doors. Fall inside our home means preparing for winter. Extra blankets get put back on beds that were tucked away from summers warmer months, and chunky knit throw blankets get tucked in baskets so they are at arms reach. I swap out my throw pillow covers in the living room with hues that feel more like fall, and candles get swapped out too from scents island margarita to harvest apple spice. I like to focus on all the cozy senses of fall, since for me it is all about nesting, and making our home feel comfortable as we prepare for the colder months ahead spent indoors.
Fall Porch | 2023
Fall is in the air, and boy do I have a fun little makeover to show you! A few weeks back I was browsing through FB Marketplace looking for antique foldable chairs, and stumbled across the cutest little bistro table set! Well, it wasn’t cute at first, but I knew this set had plenty of potential. With a good scrubbing, and some spray paint this bistro set got a completely new look, and it fits perfectly in an empty corner we have on our back porch. Come and see ~
Neutral Fall Decorating Ideas
Are you ready to decorate for fall? But not quite sure how to keep a cozy, neutral aesthetic with your fall decor? Friend, I’ve got you covered! I’ll be the first to admit, I love fall! Living in New England, we get the best showcase of all the beautiful autumn colors. And while I love the vibrant colors fall is known for, I don’t necessarily love decorating with those colors inside my home. Does that mean I have to skip out on decorating my home for fall? No way! Come and see the softer side of fall.
Dining Room Updates | 2023
After recently sharing our fireplace makeover with you, I realized I haven’t shared the updates that have taken place in our dining room. It’s probably because these updates happened slowly over the course of a year. One little update at a time our dining room is starting to take shape, and look more and more like the space I envisioned. Of course, I still have things I want to do in the space to add more warmth and character. But after looking back at where we started, and how bare our dining room sat for awhile, I’m excited to share the most recent updates our dining room has had. It’s a great reminder that progress can be made, if it is in the form of one tiny step after another.
The Gift of Making a Mistake
Recently I was chatting with a friend about her home, and she was sharing with me how she had all sorts of ideas on things she wanted to do in her new home, but that she was afraid of making the wrong choice. Sound familiar? I think we all experience decorating paralysis at one time or another. In some areas we can be so sure of our design choices, but in other areas we can get so stuck second guessing ourselves that we feel paralyzed to the point where we can’t even make a decision out of fear we will make the wrong one. Have you been there? I know I have, even with our new house. But I’ve also learned the gift of making a mistake when it comes to decorating my home, so today I’m sharing about making mistakes with our home decor, and the gift that comes from taking chances.
