Thanksgiving has always been my favorite holiday. Which would surprise most people who asked me as a young kid and expected to hear me say Christmas. I just loved when we would all come to gather around the table, extended family included. The table leaf would get brought up from the basement, and extra chairs were placed around the table, as we all would squeeze in to fit. I remember as a kid looking at the beautifully place settings, showing each of us we had a seat at the table, and somehow those everyday plates just looked a little fancier with the silverware placed next to it. Everything about the table said “you belong”, “I prepared this seat for you”, and even though I couldn’t put words to it back then, I still remember to this day how it made me feel. I think that’s why I love creating thanksgiving tablescapes so much today!
Limelight Hydrangeas in the Fall
We have been working on planting a new hydrangea hedge at our new property, and I am so excited with the progress. One of the questions I got asked the most when we were moving was “won’t you miss your hydrangeas?”. While I was certainly bummed to leave our 8ft tall hydrangea hedge at our last house (shared HERE), I had every intention of recreating the same look at our new house. Knowing that limelight hydrangeas mature quickly, I knew it would only take a few years for them to take off, and they certainly have! Today I’m sharing what our limelight hydrangeas look like in the fall, and the progress we have made so far.
Fall Home Tour | 2023
Fall is in the air friend, and with that I begin to turn my focus from being outside in the garden to back in doors. Fall inside our home means preparing for winter. Extra blankets get put back on beds that were tucked away from summers warmer months, and chunky knit throw blankets get tucked in baskets so they are at arms reach. I swap out my throw pillow covers in the living room with hues that feel more like fall, and candles get swapped out too from scents island margarita to harvest apple spice. I like to focus on all the cozy senses of fall, since for me it is all about nesting, and making our home feel comfortable as we prepare for the colder months ahead spent indoors.
Fall Porch | 2023
Fall is in the air, and boy do I have a fun little makeover to show you! A few weeks back I was browsing through FB Marketplace looking for antique foldable chairs, and stumbled across the cutest little bistro table set! Well, it wasn’t cute at first, but I knew this set had plenty of potential. With a good scrubbing, and some spray paint this bistro set got a completely new look, and it fits perfectly in an empty corner we have on our back porch. Come and see ~
Neutral Fall Decorating Ideas
Are you ready to decorate for fall? But not quite sure how to keep a cozy, neutral aesthetic with your fall decor? Friend, I’ve got you covered! I’ll be the first to admit, I love fall! Living in New England, we get the best showcase of all the beautiful autumn colors. And while I love the vibrant colors fall is known for, I don’t necessarily love decorating with those colors inside my home. Does that mean I have to skip out on decorating my home for fall? No way! Come and see the softer side of fall.
Dining Room Updates | 2023
After recently sharing our fireplace makeover with you, I realized I haven’t shared the updates that have taken place in our dining room. It’s probably because these updates happened slowly over the course of a year. One little update at a time our dining room is starting to take shape, and look more and more like the space I envisioned. Of course, I still have things I want to do in the space to add more warmth and character. But after looking back at where we started, and how bare our dining room sat for awhile, I’m excited to share the most recent updates our dining room has had. It’s a great reminder that progress can be made, if it is in the form of one tiny step after another.
Fireplace Makeover | the Reveal
The day is finally here. I am sharing our fireplace reveal. It honestly feels so surreal when I pause for a moment and look back at all the months I spent dreaming about our fireplace makeover being complete! After living with the brick for 2 years, it was time to pull the trigger, and we began our fireplace makeover. I would like to say this is the makeover reveal we have all been waiting for, because for some of you, you have been just as invested following along from the start. After many months, and lots of time and sweat put into this makeover, the reveal is finally here!
Fall Planter Ideas
The kids are back to school, and even though our temperatures aren’t reflecting it, as we make it into the middle of September, I know fall weather will be here soon! We have have had a bit of a heat wave here in the northeast these last two weeks (I think summer wanted one last hoorah!), which makes it hard to get in the mood to decorate for fall. But nonetheless, my wheels have been turning on what I want to create for our fall planters this year. So I thought it would be fun to share some fall planter ideas with you as well, as I brainstorm what I might want to do this year, and to help us get in the mood.
August | Embracing Transition
I recently heard that August is the transition month between summers sweet ending and falls new beginning. I think whether you have kids in the house who are getting ready to transition back to school, or not, you can’t deny there is a shift in the air as we are on the brink of transition. I still find myself asking the questions “how are we in August already”? Yet here we are, with the kids going back to school in less than two weeks. I’ve been learning to embrace a few things as the seasons shift, and become more aware of transition and the effects it has on me, and I wanted to share a few thoughts on those with you! So as I savor the last bit of slower mornings and warmer days, I’m sharing a bit of life updates as we make our way through August, and begin to transition into fall.
