Sometimes the feeling of having to decorate your entire house for fall at once can feel daunting. Like this overwhelming task you'd just rather not start. I like to take it one area at a time. When I'm really struggling for motivation, sometimes just creating a simple fall vignette, that will then spill out into the rest of my home and transition my decor from summer to fall. So today I'm sharing a cozy corner from our living room, and easy fall vignette you can create in less than 10 minutes. ... Read More about Fall Decorating Vignette
Fall Cider Cocktail Recipe
The weather has been crisp. Waking up to temps in the low 60's and drinking pumpkin spice coffee, definitely makes things feel like fall is in the air. With the change of seasons approaching, and holidays getting closer, I find myself wanting to hit the pause button on life. Well maybe not the pause button, but more like slow motion. I find myself just wanting to soak in every little possible detail and make the most out of every moment. Making sure nothing passes by that I haven't soaked in, and fully appreciated before it passes me by. I find myself wanting to cling to every holiday tradition, and put an importance on them once again and not get lost in the "busy" we can so easily find ... Read More about Fall Cider Cocktail Recipe
Farmhouse Tour Friday {Special Edition}
I can't believe after this weekend Summer is officially over. We started school here yesterday, and spent the first part of the week soaking in the last bit of lazy summer days. Cuddling on the couch till lunch in our pjs, going out for ice cream, playing outside until the sun went down, and of course a little shopping to get ready for school. This year both my babies are in school all day, with my youngest finally starting kindergarten. I say finally because she has been anxiously waiting to go to school since her brother started 2 years ago. No more side kick with me throughout the day, just me. I'll give you an update once I've had a moment to let that sink in, and settled into a routine. ... Read More about Farmhouse Tour Friday {Special Edition}
I Need Your Help!
Yes you read that correctly, I need your help! Right now I am in the planning phases for a new blog design. I have my layout picked, but with this change comes more options. Options to make this little site a bit more user friendly. When I first moved my blog over from blogger to wordpress picking a theme was so daunting. Without paying for a custom design, I really had to think about what I wanted my blog to look like. I was so desperate to get to a clean slate, and felt completely overwhelmed with all the choices out there. I'm not unhappy with my decision, but now after having this theme for over a year I've realized there are things I wish I could do with it that I'm just not able to. ... New Rug in the Dining Room
I finally pulled the trigger on getting a rug for our dining room. I've been contemplating different options for a couple years now. Yes YEARS, you read that right. If I've learned anything in design, it's not to rush the process. Don't make haste decisions that you aren't 100% confident in. Not only can you potentially waste money, you waste time and energy on a piece that wasn't meant to be, and it end up stunting your decision to make the right choice because you live with "good enough" for far too long. I actually had a completely different rug picked out for this room, so let me tell you why I ended up pulling the trigger on not only a different color than my original choice, but also a ... My Top Fall Outfit Picks
I know I don't usually share outfits or fashion here on the blog. One of my very first posts was about about fashion, and I think that was last. I don't consider myself a fashionista, but I do like putting outfits together that are go along with my style, and definitely have a soft spot for accessories. I think anyone who has met me would agree, I don't dress for trendy, but I do like to be comfortably in style. So I put together a little mood board of one of my favorite fall outfits. August is usually about the time I start craving cooler weather so I can bust out my vest and scarves and boots! ... Read More about My Top Fall Outfit Picks

When Comparison Is all Around
It's really hard not to compare these days. With social media slamming everyone else success's in our faces, we can easily fall into the trap of comparison without even realizing it. We go from cheering someone on, to slowly starting a downward spin cycle of feelings that tell us we're "not good enough" or success will never happen for our own personsal goals. So how do we celebrate with someone, or even scroll through social media, without letting those feelings start to consume us. I think what makes it tricky, is that some days we can have a good grip on it, but on others, we can fall prey to its trap. It's not like we don't want to be happy for other people, or share in the joy of their ... Read More about When Comparison Is all Around
Kitchen Ceiling Wallpaper REVEALED
If you caught my tutorial for installing wallpaper on our kitchen ceiling, than you know adding bead board is something I have wanted to do for quite a while. So when Graham & Brown reached out about using some of their products, I was thrilled to finally give this project a try. You can catch all the details in the "tutorial" post as to why I decided to go with wallpaper vs. real or faux bead board. While I don't think installing wallpaper to a ceiling is for the faint at heart. Once I figured out the right formula of soaking the wall paper, allowing the paste to activate, and cutting the right lengths, it went up pretty quickly! Are you ready to see the results?! ... Easy Fruit Pizza
We have been away on vacation and enjoying our time at the beach. We will resume with the farmhouse Friday tours next week, but for now enjoy this easy summer dessert that is a house favorite. I think anytime I see the word "easy" in front of a recipe, I always go for that one first. I would consider myself a moderately experienced cook/baker. I'm not too afraid of tackling a new recipe or something unfamiliar. Most importantly I like trying new things. However let's just be real here, mom to mom, when I'm cooking in the kitchen, there really isn't a whole lot of time to get my Julia Child on, when it says easy, and I have maybe 20 minutes, you've got my attention. ... How to Install Wallpaper on your Ceiling
I have been wanting to add bead board to the ceiling in our kitchen since, OH about FOREVER! There are plenty of options out there for installing bead board, and for the most part non are super pricey. They more differ in difficulty and the tools needed to install. I've always loved the look, and even though the hubby was on board, his plate has been so full I couldn't see him having time any time in the near future to tackle this project. One of the options I always kept in mind was using bead board wallpaper, and so that was exactly the route I decided to go. The ceiling in our kitchen was smooth, so using wallpaper was a perfect solution. ... Read More about How to Install Wallpaper on your Ceiling
