It’s hard to believe that Thanksgiving is already here. I think by now we all know it’s no secret that I love creating tablescapes, but more importantly I love creating a welcoming table that inspires people to want to come and gather around it. To linger long after the last bite has been taken, and dessert has been served. Tablescapes don’t have to be tricky or complicated. Today I’m sharing the one thing that I think will make any table cozy, especially for Thanksgiving.
It has been a little while since I have shared anything with you. Too long in fact! If you are new around here than you might not have noticed my absence, but I ended up taking an extended summer break. I have played out this blog post over and over in my mind of how to start, and what exactly to share, I wanted to give you an update on life, what I’ve been up to, and most importantly what has been on my heart that lead me to quietly slipping away and taking some time off earlier this summer. If we were chatting in person, I imagine we would be sitting face to face in a coffee shop, or curled up on a couch ready to dive deep into conversation. And while I would love to be able to get together with you in real life (maybe someday), today we can virtually curl up, and lean in while we pretend that we are having this conversation in person.
I can’t believe that summer is here, and there is nothing I love more than to spend as much time as possible outdoors. Whether it’s sitting on our porch, or entertaining friends and family, we love spending our summer months outdoors. Last week I decided to start tackling another room in our house. This time our primary bathroom. While we might not be tackling everything on my to-do list, I am ready to make some simple updates in our primary bathroom. Every once in awhile I share this kind of post. A random mash up of all the things I’m loving or crushing on at the moment. Today I’m sharing the progress we’ve made around our fireplace. When we first moved into this house I just knew I wanted to create a cozy seating area in front of our fireplace. I imagined myself sitting there, listening to the crackle of the fire while enjoying a quiet moment with a hot cup of coffee. The space around our fireplace is not large enough to be a room all on its own, but I approached decorating this space with the mind set of how I would want a keeping room to feel. I had a few challenges in making sure the furniture I brought in not only fit the space well, but could hold up to the everyday traffic. And I think you will see I found the perfect chairs to create this cozy fireplace seating area.
It may not feel quite like spring outside this week here in New England, but the calendar tells me it’s coming. March can always feel like a weird month, almost stuck in this in-between sort of state. With the tease of a couple of warm days, and day-light savings, the promise of spring is on the horizon. But with the bitter cold days of winter still lingering sometimes you aren’t sure what season you are in.
